Larry Hastings

Larry Hastings grew up in Dayton, Ohio, where he was active as a youth leader with several different churches. He attending Ohio State University for two years, before transferring to Eastern New Mexico University, where he graduated “with Honors in Religion.” He received his seminary degree from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA, and did additional graduate work in Religious Studies and Biomedical Ethics at the University of Virginia. Before accepting the call to be the minister at Park Street Christian Church, he served churches in Madison, VA, and Richmond, VA. He has served on the board of several organizations, including the Madison Emergency Services Association, the Rapidan Chapter of the Compassionate Friends, the Fan Free Clinic, the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy, the Mental Health Association, as well as local clergy and volunteer chaplaincy groups. As a response to 9/11/01, he co-organized an Interfaith Unity Meal for Red Cross Disaster Relief that raised more than $40,000. A certified Spiritual Director, Larry is a graduate of the Stillpoint Spiritual Direction Formation and Training Program at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico, and is a member of Spiritual Directors International. He is also a member of Salva Terra: A Vision Towards Earth’s Healing and has developed two YouTube sites to help communicate the message of Salva Terra as articulated by Celtic spiritually author, John Philip Newell and his wife, Ali Newell.
